Kashmir Pashmina Quality
Many companies claim their products are "pashmina" but will sell you camel, sheep and low grade goat wool. Kashmir Pashmina sells the real stuff. You can feel the difference when you buy our high quality pashmina. When we say "Kashmir Pashmina" we speak of Himalayan goats at heights above 14,000 feet only. Its at these altitudes that goats will grow the warmest inner undercoat, due primarily to cold harsh temperature climates. More specifically, pashmina is the inner hair from the underbelly and throat of the capra hircus mountain goat. Kashmir wool itself is known to be the purest in the world and pashmina is the finest fibers of this wool. Approximately 3 to 8 ounces of pashmina are produced per goat every year. Kashmiri artisans mix pashmina with pure goat wool from other parts of the animal to provide a suitable platform upon which to embroider. Embroidery on pure pashmina is quite difficult and very, very expensive. So we will not make false claims. We sell a healthy dose of real honest to goodness pashmina mixed with the purest of kashmir wool. The result is a very soft and warm garment with intricate needlework featuring traditional and floral designs. Our full and border embroidered items feature suzni needlework, or sozni if you prefer. Sold at compelling prices, the larger crewel work done with a hook is often substituted to those unsuspecting. Although beautiful in its own right, crewel takes a lot less work to cover the same area. Keep these thoughts in mind as you will come across many stores making false claims.
